Mark Hammon  > Fine Art Portfolio > California
California

I believe that California is one of the most diverse places in the United States, at least the most diverse place I have been. California has Death Valley with the lowest point in North America and just miles away is Mt. Whitney that highest point in the contiguous United States. From the coast on the Pacific Ocean to the planes of the Central Valley to the mountains in the Sierra Nevada Range, there is almost every kind of eco-zone you can imagine. Having lived in or near California for my entire life, it has been a focus of much of my photographic effort.

You can see a larger version of the image by clicking on the preview on the right. This is a multi-page portfolio, so be sure to explore the other pages by using the page option below this description. You can purchase prints of these images from the ‘Buy’ above the preview. Printing and distribution are handled by the well-known Bay Photo. For custom prints printed and signed by Mark Hammon or for special sizes, please feel free to contact me.

Donner Lake CA taken from Rainbow Bridge on Highway Old 40.
Mark Hammon > Mesquite Dunes - Death Valley
I really like the similarity of patterns in the photograph. The patterns in the sand dunes are like the dunes, which are like the foot hills, which are like the mountains. Fractals in nature. The yellow patch beyond the dunes is a bunch of wild flowers that goes for miles. Death Valley can be amazing in the spring.

Mark Hammon > Sunflowers
After a trip from the coast in 2005 I was driving through Davis CA and some of the fields to the south of the freeway were planted with Sunflowers. I was unable to stop that trip, but the next week I got back to take this.
Mark Hammon > San Francisco Skyline
I recently had the opportunity to photograph in San Francisco with some new friends and some fairly well know photographers. One of the San Francisco Local photographers led us to this spectacular view.
