Lake Tahoe

Lake Tahoe is the largest alpine lake in North American and one of the jewels of the Sierra Nevada Mountain Range. For over 20 years I have lived close to the Lake. Its stunning beauty, diversity and size make it a place I never grow tired of going. Despite its beauty, I have always found it a challenging subject, it is hard to capture it expanse into a single image. Despite this I have attempted to on many occasions and some of my best attempts can be found here.

Winter Approaches
On the way home from Lake Tahoe I stopped at the Mt. Rose Highway lookout over Incline Village and shot this infrared panoramic of the forecasted storm coming into the Tahoe Basin. Snowflakes where just starting to fall and the temperature was dropping fast.

Just another Crappy Tahoe Sunrise
A late fall morning on the way into Tahoe I was greeted by yet another spectacular sunrise. I headed directly to the beach to find a good vantage point for my shooting. As I started taking photos, I heard someone walk behind me and say ‘Just another crappy Tahoe sunrise’. Then he pulled out a camera and started shooting.

Edge of the Storm
This winter image of Lake Tahoe was taken from the East Shore, between Sand Harbor and Incline Village. It was one of those spectacular mornings where the lake was like glass, yet a storm was heading onto the basin from the west shore as the sun was rising over the east. There are several large custom sizes for this image including a 72” and 120” versions, please contact me about larger sizes on paper or canvas.

Lake Tahoe Sunset
I am fortunate to live close to this natural beauty. One evening on the North Shore in early December the combination of partial clouds and a calm lake made for a stunning sunset. I also took this image in a vertical perspective.

Tahoe Sunset
For about 9 months I was blessed with the opportunity to live at the Lake (Lake Tahoe). One of my highlights was driving to and from work since every day the Lake had a different and beautiful look. It is truly amazing how different it can look form day to day and season to season. I also took this image in a horizontal perspective.

East Shore Lake Tahoe
The East Shore of Lake Tahoe has a very dramatic look with its rocky shore line. Much of the East Shore is contained in the Nevada State Park and as a result as easy access to many of the beautiful parts. This photo was taken from a trail that follows the East Shore north of Sand Harbor.

Cairn at Tahoe
I was walking on a rocky beach on the East Shore of Lake Tahoe and came across several cairns, this one caught my attention.

Sunset from Mt. Rose Overlook
One of the classic views of Lake Tahoe is from the Mt. Rose Highway overlook that is above Incline Village. The highway connects Incline Village to South Reno and I often drive it to and from clients at the Lake and sometimes I am rewarded by views like this.
