Mark Hammon > Stars over the Black Rock
Time Lapse of the stars in Gerlach, NV - Black Rock Desert
Mark Hammon > Lower Yosemite Falls
This is a classic shot of the lower Yosemite Falls taken from the bride. The power of this falls is felt by the mist, wind and sound that is created as the water cascades off this final ledge as it enters Yosemite Valley. There is enough force to push mist and wind down to where I am composing the shot, enough to make me have to wipe down the lens between shots.
Mark Hammon > Egret
On the way to work this morning this egret caught my eye. After circling back around to take that shot I realized I did not have enough lens with me to really get the close in bird shot. But after playing around a little I ended up with a shot I liked.
Mark Hammon > Negative is Positive
I saw my daughter this weekend and one of the things she is doing is taking a black and white photography class. After looking through her negatives and some prints, it got me thinking about mine. As I was flipping through them, it reminded me of a test I wanted to try – what if I took a picture of one and reversed it in Photoshop?
Mark Hammon > Egret, OR
On a recent trip to Oregon I found this egret as I was doing some exploring along the coast. I have always found this to be such sticking birds – both their bright white and amazing shape. This one was quite patient with me allow me to take several shots of it and actually approach fairly close – this was taken at 200mm.
Mark Hammon > Fall in High Sierra
Beginning of fall some friends and I went to Hope Valley CA to catch the fall color. This is a grove of mature aspen that caught our eye near the intersection of highway 88 and 89.
Mark Hammon > The Color of Fall
Taken on Mt. Rose Highway between Reno and Lake Tahoe. Every year this is fantasic drive during the fall months when huge groves of aspen turn bight golden yellow.
Mark Hammon > Fire in the Snow
My favorite little abandon Forest Service cabin on Highway 267 was really striking this afternoon with the bright aspen and the white snow.
Mark Hammon > Just another Crappy Tahoe Sunrise
A late fall morning on the way into Tahoe I was greeted by yet another spectacular sunrise. I headed directly to the beach to find a good vantage point for my shooting. As I started taking photos, I heard someone walk behind me and say ‘Just another crappy Tahoe sunrise’. Then he pulled out a camera and started shooting.
Mark Hammon > Many Years of Fall
On a recent trip to Hope Valley California to capture fall color I found this hollowed out stump that had layers of aspen leaves collected in it from many years. I was struck by the texture and shapes and how the new colored leaves contrasted with the older leaves from past years.
Mark Hammon > Winter Approaches
On the way home from Lake Tahoe I stopped at the Mt. Rose Highway lookout over Incline Village and shot this infrared panoramic of the forecasted storm coming into the Tahoe Basin. Snowflakes where just starting to fall and the temperature was dropping fast.
Mark Hammon > San Francisco Skyline
I recently had the opportunity to photograph in San Francisco with some new friends and some fairly well know photographers. One of the San Francisco Local photographers led us to this spectacular view.
